Together with the art center Éspace des Arts in Sfax, Tunisia, we share the vision and work towards the goal of equality.
The center is run in a context of equality and freedom. Many children and young people have learned to use paint as a form of communication. Also physically and mentally handicapped are included.
When three people from the center, Moncef, Mohsen and Abdelaziz, visited Bindal a few months after the revolution in 2011, they left an unforgettable mark on the local town hall where the village was gathered for the Norwegian National Day. Many newly created drawings and paintings made by children and young people in Tunisia, full of hope for equality for the peoples of the world in dialogue with each other and for the good of the earth in relation to the environment.
Since then, we created a solid bond with our Tunisian partners, and we have worked together to give a voice to children and youth via painting and exhibitions.
This time, Peacepainting came to Sfax to hold painting workshops with a new set of children and youth. The municipal management in culture in Bindal, Norway participated with Peacepainting in this project.
We also had painting workshops in Institution Kerkennah with children of youth with mental and physical disabilities, an important group which is often overlooked.
The paintings created were brought back to our headquarters in Norway, and will later travel the world at various exhibitions.
