On the 15th-19th of November, a group of five people from Peacepainting traveled to meet our partners, the Portuguese association APPDA Leiria and the Spanish association AA Vigo (Asociación Autismo Vigo) for part three in our project named “InAutism - Fostering Adult Integration”. In this project, we are using Peacepainting method and other art expression methods to develop new forms of communication for people in the autism spectrum.
For the first time, we brought users from Norway to have Peacepainting workshops together with users in Portugal. The five people from Peacepainting were accommodated 50 km away from the center, in a small town next to the coast, the activities took place at the Residence and Occupational Activity Center created by APPDA Leiria in Portugal. Together with the users at Appda Leiria, the Norwegian visitors participated in two ceramics workshops, two Peacepainting workshops and other artistic activities. The Peacepainting workshops were conducted very well, and we received a very positive response from the participants.
The paintings with texts created during this time will be exhibited in a culture center in Leiria. Our partner in Portgugal, Appda Leiria is currently working on sourcing the frames for the paintings and once the frames have arrived, the exhibition will open.
The next part in this project will take place in Vigo, Portugal in February 2022, where we will have a leadership meeting to plan the two next workshop exchanges. In April 2022, Peacepainting will again travel to Leiria for an exchange project including four users from Norway. The last and final part will take place in June 2022, where users from both from Portugal and Spain will travel to Bindal in Norway. This final stage will last one week and there will be workshop exchanges with with users in Bindal and Brønnøysund with a subsequent exhibition of the paintings created.
