This year, the Nordlandsbåtregatta in Bindal became more than just a gathering for boat enthusiasts and competitions. We presented an exhibition that aimed to touch and inspire visitors of all ages. The paintings created by children and youth from around the world, covering our unique Peacepainting tent, set a valuable tone for collaboration and understanding.
Welcome to the Peacepainting Tent
The Peacepainting tent opened its doors to all visitors of the Nordlandsbåtregatta. Inside this tent, people experienced a sense of harmony and unity. Every brushstroke on the exhibited paintings carried messages of hope and peace from children and youth who expressed their dreams and desires through art.
A Global Exhibition
Through Peacepainting workshops, children and youth from across the globe have expressed their thoughts on peace and inclusion. The paintings displayed in the Peacepainting tent give a voice to these young participants. It was heartwarming to witness how art can serve as a universal language, building bridges between different communities.
Meaningful Conversations
Peacepainting has always emphasized dialogue and conversation as tools for change. During the exhibition in Bindal, visitors were encouraged to engage in discussions about peace, inclusion, and equality. People of all ages shared their thoughts and experiences, creating a gathering point where diverse perspectives could meet. Such conversations are crucial in fostering better mutual understanding and establishing the foundation for a more inclusive society.
A Local Connection
The response from the local community was very positive. It provided a unique opportunity for local residents to gain insights into the organization's work and learn how they can contribute to peace and inclusion. The exhibition also served as preparation for an upcoming workshop in the autumn, where refugees and locals will participate in Peacepainting workshops.
Peacepainting's involvement in the Nordlandsbåtregatta 2023 in Bindal left a positive impact on those who visited the Peacepainting tent and took part in the conversations. Using art as a powerful tool to convey messages of peace, inclusion, and equality, we want to pave the way for better understanding among people from diverse backgrounds.
