The historic Belfast Agreement, also known as the Good Friday Agreement, has played a crucial role in the peace process in Northern Ireland. To commemorate its 25th anniversary, a conference was recently held at The Irish College in Leuven, Brussels where Peacepainting was invited. The event was arranged by AER (Assembly of European Regions), the International Fund for Ireland, and Irish College Leuven.
Being dedicated to promoting peace and reconciliation through art, we were invited be part of this significant commemoration, alongside the County Governor of Nordland, Norway. At the panel, we had the opportunity to present our unique approach to peacebuilding.
AER - Assembly of European Regions
AER is an independent organization working to foster cooperation and development among regions in Europe. We share AER's vision of strengthening the role and influence of regions in European politics. Through AER, we have been able to exchange experiences, ideas in working together to create a more peaceful and harmonious world.
Peacepainting's participation in the panel
It was a great honor for us to be invited to participate in the panel during the conference. The panel provided us with an opportunity to share our unique approach to peacebuilding, which involves art workshops and exhibitions. Through art, we have created a space for dialogue, understanding, and empathy, where people from different communities and backgrounds can collaborate.
Project Collaboration with AER in Ireland
As a result of our participation in the conference, we are now in the planning phase of a collaboration with AER in Ireland. This collaboration will allow us to expand our efforts in peacebuilding and involve multiple regions and stakeholders. We look forward to combining our artistic approach with AER's expertise in regional development and cooperation, working together to make an even greater positive impact. We are grateful for this opportunity and eager to continue our work for peace and reconciliation through art.
